Your Privacy Matters

We collect information you provide directly to us when you register your school, create an account, or use our services. This includes:

• School information — school name, type, location, and student count
• Administrator details — name, email address, and phone number
• Student & staff data — names, grades, attendance records, and performance data entered by your school administrators
• Payment information — processed securely through Chapa and Stripe; we do not store raw card numbers
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the platform

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve MelaSchools services
• Process school registrations and manage accounts
• Send administrative notifications, approval updates, and platform announcements
• Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
• Generate analytics and performance insights within your school dashboard
• Comply with legal obligations

All data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures including role-based access control, audit logging, and regular security reviews.

School data is logically isolated — your school's data is never shared with or accessible by other schools on the platform.

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

• Service providers — such as payment processors (Chapa, Stripe), SMS providers, and cloud infrastructure vendors, solely to deliver our services
• Legal authorities — when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

We retain your school's data for the duration of your active subscription plus 90 days after termination, giving you time to export records. After this period, data is securely deleted upon request.

As a school administrator you have the right to:

• Access all data associated with your school
• Request corrections to inaccurate information
• Export your data in standard formats
• Request deletion of your account and associated data

MelaSchools uses essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Student data entered by school administrators (including minors) is treated with the highest level of privacy protection. This data is only accessible to authorized staff of the relevant school and is never used for advertising or shared with third parties beyond what is required to operate the platform.

The Mela School app for Android lets parents and guardians follow their children's schooling. It only works with an account that your child's school has created for you; you cannot sign up in the app.

When you use the app, it sends the following to your school's MelaSchools server, always over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

• Sign-in details — your email address and password, and a verification code when one is required. After you sign in, a session token is kept in your device's encrypted storage and is excluded from device backups.
• Profile details — your name, email address and phone number, if you edit them.
• Payment receipts — a photo of a bank slip, only when you choose to attach one, together with the bank name and reference you enter. The app uses the camera or photo library only at that moment, and only if you allow it.
• Messages and communication book entries — what you write to your child's teachers and school.

The app shows your children's records — attendance, results, schedules, fees and school announcements — as your school has recorded them. Online fee payments are completed on the payment provider's own page (such as Chapa), not inside the app. If you use the in-app Assistant, your child's school records are processed by Google's Gemini service to write the summary and read it aloud; that data is not used for advertising.

With your permission, the app shows notifications about school activity. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.

Deleting your account: ask your child's school to remove your guardian account, or email manager@maleverse.net from the address on your account. We delete the account and your personal details within 30 days. Records your school must keep about your child, such as attendance and results, stay with the school.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered administrators of material changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
